Australia Post has been recognised at the recent Australasian Packaging and Innovation & Design Awards (PIDA) by receiving the 2024 Sustainable Packaging Design – E-Commerce Gold Award.
The Sustainable Packaging Design Award recognises companies developing innovative packaging solutions that incorporate sustainability considerations.
The winning design, Australia Post’s Korrvu Retention range of single and twin wine boxes, developed alongside packaging company Sealed Air, took out the top award in the e-commerce category.
Korrvu Retention inserts rival the damage protection of traditional custom foam but is primarily constructed of corrugated cardboard. It uses up to 80 per cent recycled materials, is kerbside recyclable and can replace difficult to recycle traditional options.
Australia Post General Manager for Retail Product and Supply Chain Kayla Le Cornu says the award is recognition for the organisation’s continued sustainability efforts.
“Reducing the impact of our packaging range is a priority. Our retail packaging team work hard to find solutions that reduce negative environmental impacts while ensuring our packaging is fit for purpose and parcels arrive safely,” Le Cornu says.
“This is a great achievement for the team and business, especially as we were up against some excellent innovators in this category.”
