ATA General Council voting begins

Voters will have three weeks to cast their ballot online

 

Ballot to elect the new owner-driver and small trucking business representatives on the Australian Trucking Association (ATA’s) General Council is now open.

Former public servant Phil Potterton, who has been appointed as the Independent Returning Officer to conduct the election, announced the names of the candidates yesterday.

Candidates for the small fleet position are (in alphabetic order):

  • Lynley Miners from Adaminaby, New South Wales, and
  • Leigh Smart from Melrose Park, New South Wales. 

Candidates for the owner-driver position are (in alphabetic order):

  • John Beer from Romsey, Victoria;
  • Frank Black (Arcidiaco) from Archerfield, Queensland; and
  • Gordon Mackinlay from Holbrook, New South Wales.

The election will be conducted online, with registered voters getting their secure voting link via email today.

Voting will close at 5pm AEDT on March 22 and the results will be declared on March 23.

The statements of all candidates will be available to registered voters with their online ballot papers, and can also be found on the ATA website.
