Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal establish relationships during its founding phase says employers' industrial group

The Australian Road Transport Industrial Organisation (ARTIO) has welcomed the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal’s annual work program draft and the priority it has given to the long distance freight.
ARTIO’s advocate Travis Degen wants the tribunal to establish relationships during its founding phase, ensuring it has resources to undertake nominated initiatives and to identify issues by using an evidence-based approach.
He is calling on the tribunal not to be “overly prescriptive” in conducting its work and to set a timeframe based on the “evidence before it and the likely complexity of any investigation”.
ARTIO’s Secretary Philip Lovel says the organisation is committed to working with the tribunal and is keen to learn how it engages within the industry.
“As evidence of this commitment, representatives from ARTIO as well as its NSW, Victorian and Queensland branches also attended this sitting of the tribunal as observers of tis proceedings,” Lovel says.
