All-electric Fuso technology set to debut

Vehicle manufacturer Fuso will have a wide array of vehicles and technology to show off in Tokyo

Fuso will be showing off its new eCanter designs alongside battery technology for the model at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show (JMS 2023).

Running from October 26 to November 5 in Tokyo, the new all-electric eCanter truck with tipper and garbage truck applications will be among the attractions at this year’s show.

Hosted by the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), the Japan Mobility Show was conceived as the successor to the biennial Tokyo Motor Show.

The eCanter with a tipper body, is made possible through the new model’s addition of a power takeoff device (ePTO).

A garbage truck will also be exhibited alongside the tipper truck will be an eCanter fitted for garbage collection that features a specially prepared, futuristic design.

A collaboration between Fuso and Ample Inc behind a pilot project on battery-swapping electric trucks, using the newest eCanter model with a swappable battery module, will be showcased.

The two companies will install an eCanter with modular batteries that can be automatically exchanged at Ample battery swapping stations, a process that is eventually targeted to take five minutes.

The test vehicle’s trial on public roads is scheduled for this coming Japanese winter.

In addition, Fuso plans to stage the world premiere of a prototype for the new heavy-duty Super Great truck at JMS 2023.
