ALC refutes carbon tax advertising claim

The Australian Logistics Council hits back at media suggestions it is part of a carbon tax advertising campaign

The Australian Logistics Council (ALC) has hits back at media suggestions it is part of a carbon tax advertising campaign.

The peak logistics body today
confirmed reports saying ALC is part of an industry advertising campaign on a carbon tax are incorrect.

“ALC has taken no decision to participate in an advertising campaign,” says ALC CEO Michael Kilgariff. “ALC’s view on the carbon price will be informed by the package’s final design.

“We await the release of the Government’s policy on a Carbon Price,” Kilgariff adds.

“Following its release, ALC will be in a better position to understand how it will potentially affect Australia’s freight transport and logistics industry.”

The ALC is urging the Multi Party Climate Change Committee to finalise its deliberations so the final carbon price package can be released as soon as possible.

“The sooner the Federal Government does this, the sooner we can have an informed debate about its contents, and its impact on the Australian freight transport and logistics sector,” Kilgariff says.
