THE MARKET OPPORTUNITY

The road transport industry is critical to the Australian economy.

Some 47,000 hire-and-reward trucking companies, employing a fleet of half a million trucks and 250,000 staff, are responsible for carrying three-quarters of the nation’s domestic freight, including every item on the supermarket shelves.

They also play a critical role in moving Australia’s ever-expanding international air and sea freight around the country.

The road transport industry also ranks among the fastest-growing sectors of the Australian economy.

Freight volumes carried by road jumped by almost 65 percent between 1996-97 and 2006-07 and total industry employment expanded by nearly 30 percent between 1998 and 2008.

This rapid growth is set to continue on the back of a forecast doubling of domestic road freight volumes beween 2008 and 2030 as well as continued expansion of international freight volumes.

Driving this growth will be readers of Australia’s leading road transport management magazine, Australasian Transport News (ATN), the larger employing hire-and-reward operators that account for 40 percent of businesses in the road freight transport industry and almost 90 percent of industry income.

It is these operators that will underpin record investment across the sector, in trucks, vans, trailers, tyres and wheels, parts and accessories, fuels and lubricants, technology, recruitment and training, industrial property and warehousing, forklifts and materials handling equipment, and lots more.

THE MARKET CONNECTOR

It’s official: ATN is the most effective platform to connect with the key decision makers in the Australian road transport industry.

The Transport Census 2012, a landmark survey of 962 transport operators undertaken by market research firm The Seed, found 63 percent of ATN readers are owners or senior managers of transport companies with between 1-10 (40 percent), 11-100 (29 percent) and 100+ (10 percent) vehicles and responsible for key purchasing decisions across a wide range of products and services.

And ATN is their preferred source of industry news and information.

The Transport Census 2012 found 70 percent ‘frequently’ or ‘regularly’ read the monthly print publication, compared with just 32 percent who read Prime Mover, 28 percent who read Truckin’ Life and 22 percent who read Diesel.

Additionally, 41-42 percent ‘frequently’ or ‘regularly’ visit ATN’s daily news website Fullyloaded.com.au and read its daily e-news bulletin.

The reason is simple: only ATN delivers the depth and breadth of news and information they need to effectively run their businesses.

Daily online ATN breaks the big business and industry news stories of direct relevance to fleet owners and managers; and monthly ATNmagazine delivers not only the best equipment reviews but comprehensive coverage of the latest industry news and issues, case studies of how operators are dealing with them and advice from industry experts on a diverse range of business issues.

And bi-annually, NewTruckSearch, Australia’s No.1 transport equipment buyers’ guide, features specifications of all trucks, trailers, tyres and wheels available on the market.

With such reach and frequency it’s no wonder leading fleet owners and managers choose ATN to stay fully loaded! (September 2014 CAB audited circulation: 11,425)
