Daimler Truck has appointed Achim Puchert as the new CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks and has added him to the Board of Management as of December 1, 2024.
Puchert will take over as CEO from Karin Rådström, who held the position prior to being named CEO of Daimler Truck.
He is currently CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks do Brasil and Latin America and will also be responsible for the regions of Europe and Latin America in his board position.
Puchert started his career in the former Daimler Group in 2002 and was appointed to his current role in 2022.
He has worked for Daimler AG in numerous capacities all over the world, including postings in Brazil and Latin America, Russia, Germany and Asia.
He held the role of Senior Vice President International Sales, Marketing and Customer Service for Daimler Truck Asia for almost three years prior to his appointment with Mercedes-Benz in Brazil.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Daimler Truck Holding AG Joe Kaeser says Puchert’s appointment puts the company’s succession plan in place.
“With the appointment of Achim Puchert, the Supervisory Board promptly decides on the succession for the management of Mercedes-Benz Trucks,” Kaeser says.
“Decisive criteria were team spirit, leadership strength and relevant experience in restructuring and profitable development of business.
“Achim Puchert brings together all these attributes in a convincing manner and has demonstrated this particularly in his current role as CEO of Mercedes-Benz do Brasil.
“The Supervisory Board looks forward to working with him.”
The position of Mercedes-Benz Trucks CEO stood vacant since the elevation of Rådström’s succession of Martin Daum as Daimler Truck AG CEO in October this year.
Rådström says Puchert’s experience in turning around Mercedes-Benz Trucks’ fortunes in Brazil and Latin America will hold him in good stead to take on this new challenge.
“Achim Puchert is an experienced strategist and transformation expert,” Rådström says. “But, even more importantly, Achim is a manager who leads through empowerment, motivating his teams to perform at their best.
“He has impressively demonstrated his knowledge and skills in his current role as CEO of Mercedez-Benz do Brasil.
“In less than three years he has worked with his team to bring a previously challenging business with below-average margins back on track.
“I look forward to working with Achim in his new responsibility.”
The succession of Puchert in his current role will be decided and communicated in due course, says the Supervisory Board.
