ACFS Port Logistics NZ has announced the acquisition of multiple Coda Group business assets to more closely align its New Zealand operations with its successful Australian model.
Assets including Auckland 3PL Transport (FCL & LCL), Auckland Freight Station (FAK) and Rolleston DC in Christchurch will all be rebranded as ACFS Port Logistics, with the transition set for completion by May 1, 2025.
The acquisition will not affect Coda Group’s 4PL operations or its Bay of Plenty and Savill Drive locations.
ACFS Port Logistics initially expanded into New Zealand in 2023 with the opening of a 25,000 sqm Otahuhu warehouse and has since been aggressively pursuing acquisition opportunities.
CEO and Managing Director of ACFS Port Logistics Arthur Tzaneros says the acquisition has boosted the company’s footprint in New Zealand as a “major player” in the market.
“We are excited to welcome Coda Group’s talented team into the growing ACFS business,” Tzaneros says.
“Coda’s capabilities, service offering and reputation align closely with our existing operations here in Australia.
“Together, we will strengthen our value proposition for customers throughout New Zealand and aggressively expand our footprint as a major player in the containerised logistics market.”
Coda Group was established in 2015 and has incorporated a variety of legacy freight and transport brands into its business in the decade since.
The Coda assets acquired by ACFS in this transaction will immediately make the company a major volume provider of containerised logistics services and able to offer multi-modal (transport and rail) with strategically located FCL storage facilities located at Auckland’s Metro Port and Christchurch’s Rolleston.
Chief Executive of Coda Group Deena Clarkson says the partnership with ACFS will strengthen the value proposition to customers.
“Our 3PL business has thrived by leveraging deep industry expertise and strong customer relationships,” Clarkson says.
“By transitioning to ACFS, we’re ensuring our Auckland 3PL Transport, Auckland Freight Station and Rolleston DC have the scale, resources and growth opportunities required to excel in an increasingly competitive freight sector.”
Chairman of ACFS Port Logistics Terry Tzaneros says the acquisition represents a significant step forward in the company’s long-term growth plan.
“The expertise and assets gained in this acquisition will help us realise and enhance the vision we set during COVID,” he says. “To provide our New Zealand clients with the same high-quality service they experience in Australia.
“I am extremely excited about this acquisition and look forward to welcoming the Coda employees into the ACFS Port Logistics family as we continue to grow.”
