ACFS feeling the love with efficiency boom

ACFS Logistics says the implementation of its paperless Port Botany truck entry system has reduced turnaround times by 30 per cent

ACFS Port Logistics has praised the implementation of a new technology at its Port Botany e-depot and says its new paperless truck entry system has reduced turnaround times by up to 30 per cent.

2024 saw ACFS transition away from the traditional paper-based methods of tracking truck activity in the port, and instead implement optical camera recognition (OCR), licence plate recognition (LPR) and CAMCO technology.

The improvement in turnaround time has also resulted in other gains across operations, with security and emission benefits also observed.

“Truck turnaround times have been reduced by up to 30 per cent, allowing for faster processing and less waiting time for transport operators,” ACFS says in a statement.

“This efficiency has had a ripple effect, enabling higher volumes to be processed without disruption, while maintaining the quality of service our customers expect.

“Beyond productivity gains, the new system has enhanced security with seamless tracking of truck registrations and slot bookings, ensuring smooth operations at every gate.

“Additionally, our efforts to reduce emissions have been bolstered by cutting down idling and driving times.”

The transition of ACFS’ e-depot to a paperless system came into effect in January 2024 as part of the company’s ‘Better Way’ program, which is focused on introducing advancements to improve efficiency across operations.

ACFS says the improvements laid out by the paperless system have been consistently well received by clients and transport operators over its 12 months of operation.

“This efficiency has had a ripple effect, enabling higher volumes to be processed without disruption while maintaining the quality of service our customers expect,” ACFS continues.

“The overwhelming positive feedback from clients and transport operators confirms this move has truly been a game-changer for the industry.

“We’re proud to continue setting the standard for innovation and excellence, with this project marking another significant step in our ongoing ‘Better Way’ program.

“Looking ahead to 2025, we’re excited to explore even more ways to optimise operations.”
