Alice Springs museum to bring almost three times as many inductees to its fold in 2015
The National Road Transport Hall of Fame is set to grow more than usual in this, its 20th anniversary year.
Each year, the Alice-Springs Museum dedicated to the history of Australia’s unique road transport industry inducts a further group of operators and drivers onto its Wall of Fame, sponsored for the past 15 years by Shell Rimula.
This year’s event, from August 25 to 31, will feature almost 300 inductees, compared with the usual 100.
Viva Energy Australia’s Max Lane says it was a great honour for its Shell Rimula brand to partner with the National Road Transport Hall of Fame to recognise “these remarkable Australians”.
“Shell Rimula’s unwavering dedication to the road transport industry’s heritage in Australia is emulated in our commitment to the Wall of Fame,” he says.
“We’re looking forward to celebrating the achievements of this year’s inductees, at this special milestone Hall of Fame reunion.”
National Road Transport Hall of Fame CEO Liz Martin says: “In our 20th year, we’re very excited to welcome a record number of inductees into the Hall of Fame, commending their outstanding commitment to road transport in Australia”.
Meanwhile, the Road Transport Historical Society will celebrate a quarter of a century since its inception.
