2021 review: like taking a pointy stick to a bear?

Strange days indeed with industry-government relations.

There was a time when – apart from the odd road tax hike and that limited difficulty with the Road Safety Remuneration Tribunal (RSRT), which was solved by a change of government – it seemed Canberra could do little wrong.

Now, with the Heavy Vehicle National Law reform process looking tattered and being compared with the RSRT (the horror), poking federal bear again might not seem entirely wise.

But sometimes friends have to speak and act plainly or they are failing in their responsibility, right?

And who better to help out than the Electric Vehicle Council (EVC) and its measured and conservative CEO, Behyad Jafari, who said this month: “There’s no sugar coating it, Future Fuels is a fizzer.”

The ATA and the ECV are currently developing a policy report on electric trucks. Fingers crossed!
