While the technique of chilling goods with liquid nitrogen is not new, the ecoFridge by MaxiTrans is offering this technology to road transport operators.

The latest outlet for the ecoFridge unit is Colrain’s Geelong facility, which now also offers servicing facilities for up to eight prime movers and two B-doubles.

The ecoFridge has virtually no moving parts and is almost maintenance free, helping reduce maintenance costs and downtime compared to conventional fridge plants.

The liquid nitrogen can also be sourced from renewable energy, giving operators emission free status on their cooling equipment.

While the new fridge trailer is an undoubted attraction, from a servicing perspective the Colrain workshops now have a set of truck and trailer hoists, including a trailer lifter able to lift a semi trailer or dog trailer six feet off the ground.

This allows workshop staff to carry out jobs like servicing clutches and gearboxes quickly and safely, as well as suspension and welding repairs and other under body work.

The on-site yard is large enough to turn a B-double and is easily accessible from two street access points and offers drive in-drive out capability, while a pair of service vans are on-call 24 hours per day, seven days per week for operators requiring a breakdown service.
