Engine distributor MTU Detroit Diesel Australia will showcase a new heavy duty engine at the International Truck, Trailer and Equipment Show in Melbourne.
The much-anticipated DD15 engine will be shown at the Daimler Trucks and Western Star stands ahead of its 2011 release.
MTU Detroit Diesel Australia has pumped more than $1.5 billion and five years into developing the DD15 and the DD13 engines.
The company claims the DD15 has a great torque response and long torque range due to the turbo technology and an amplified common-rail fuel system. It also meets current emission regulations and upcoming 2010 environmental standards.
“We’re looking forward to giving the show’s visitors a look at our current and future technologies, and we are particularly excited about gauging their response to the DD15,” MTU Detroit Diesel Australia President and CEO Doug Seneshen says.
The engine will be featured alongside the Series 60 and MBE 4000 engines.
According to MTU Detroit Diesel Australia, the Series 60 has undergone continuous improvements in its 20-year existence to make it one of the most popular engines today.
Detroit Diesel has built more than five million engines since 1938 and currently has more than one million engines in operation worldwide.
