While the economic downturn is tearing the heart out of new truck demand, body builders seem to be bucking the trend by continuing full scale production.

With many body builders holding strong order banks, there have been no reports of downsizing at this stage, particularly with fresh orders still arriving.

Although there is an expectation the lead time for new product will decrease, it appears at least one section of the industry is still going strong.

Paul Vawdrey, sales director for family company Vawdrey Australia, says the company has even opened three new branches around Australia since October 2008 as it looks to secure even more orders for its factory.
