Dematic in first AGV shipment from Belrose plant

Much happening in the automated vehicle front this year for firm

Dematic’s new range of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) has started rolling out of its factory in Belrose, New South Wales, for the first time.

The order from an unnamed major Australian beverage company includes 4-metre double pallet handlers and 6-metre double pallet handlers, all with fork spreading capabilities.

Benefits claimed include significantly reduced labour costs and on-going damage to equipment and stock, together with improved supply chain reliability and traceability.

“We began manufacturing Dematic’s new AGV range in our Sydney facility in June this year,” Dematic director of AGVs Tommy Eklof says.

Dematic manufactures a range of AGVs including forklifts, unit load, very narrow aisle (VNA) and specialty vehicles for moving materials, stock and finished goods through DCs and production environments.

Dematic has been busy with AGVs locally since taking over manufacturer AGV earlier this year and launching a range in June.

Meanwhile, Oxford Cold Storage is in the midst of testing a fleet.
