AHG acquires Victorian Mercedes-Benz dealership

Adding to its expanding Daimler offering, AHG has made a move into Victoria

Automotive Holdings Group (AHG) has acquired the Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicles dealership in Victoria from Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific.

Under the deal, the Laverton-based dealership is expected to be re-branded as Daimler Trucks Laverton and relocated from its current position on Marwen Drive to a greenfield site on Boundary Road.

The new site will be developed over 12 months by AHG’s property partner, Charter Hall.

AHG managing director Bronte Howson says the move is in line with the group’s automotive aggregation strategy.

“This is a significant acquisition for AHG,” Howson says.

“It will give us a strategic presence with the Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner brands in one of Australia’s most important truck and van markets.”

With AHG already holds dealerships in Perth, Brisbane, and Newcastle, Howson says the move will also “strengthen our existing truck operations and our offering to major fleet customers.

Expected to be settled in September, AHG says the takeover involves “a nominal consideration for goodwill plus new stock at valuation”.
