TMHA launches compact 8FBE forklift
Toyota expands 8-Series range with small electric-powered offering
Toyota Material Handling Australia (TMHA) has unveiled a new three-wheeled counterbalance battery-electric forklift to the 8-Series range, the Toyota 8FBE.
Landing at the smaller end of the forklift range, Toyota says the "compact" 8FBE is for customers with manoeuvrability, efficiency, and safety needs.
"Toyota has strategically designed the new 8FBE to be one of our most versatile forklifts yet," TMHA national sales and product manager Dean Watson says.
"Our engineers have worked hard to ensure the latest addition to the 8-Series line-up lives up to the high standard set by the 7FBE, a long-time favourite of many of our customers."
Replacing the 7FBE, the 8FBE adds automatic vehicle-speed control and automatic turn-speed control to the forklifts’ System of Active Stability (SAS) feature-set, which already included active mast front-tilt angle, active mast tilt speed control, automatic fork-levelling control, and active steering synchroniser.
Automatic vehicle-speed control looks to increase stability when transporting loads, the company says, by managing the acceleration, deceleration, and speed of the forklift based on the lift height and load weight.
Automatic turn-speed control works in a similar fashion, however it takes the desired turning radius into account and controls the forklift’s movement around a corner.
Toyota says the motors and controllers have also been replaced, which, in testing the 1.5-tonne models, increase operating time by 20 per cent in standard mode.
The forklift is also water resistant equivalent to IPX4, aiding outdoor use.
"Our slogan for this model is ‘Stronger for longer, inside and out’, which sums it up well," Watson says.
"With this model companies are able to take the 8FBE to more places, and put it to work all day without worrying if it gets a bit wet, or having to swap batteries mid-shift.
"As the smallest counterbalance forklift in our range it packs quite a punch in all aspects of operation, and we’re very excited to see how it performs in the market."
Toyota says the 8FBE also features double rear tyres, an operator restraint system (ORS) seat, a lattice-designed overhead guard, and a small-diameter steering wheel.
Optional extras include a rear assist grip, a rear-facing blue light, a shock sensor for collision detection, and a PIN-code entry system.
