Crown announces Rental Express, wins safety gong

The equipment company has a new same-day rental offering in metro areas

Material handling company Crown Equipment has unveiled Rental Express, a new service for companies requiring same-day delivery of a rental forklift.

General manager of rental sales at Crown Equipment Paul Kartelo says the service, limited to Australian metropolitan areas, has over 10,000 vehicles on offer to customers.

“Renting forklifts has always been a financially attractive option when you need extra capacity, but the real driver for many rentals is the absolute need to keep up with material handling demands,” said Kartelo.

“Waiting two or three days for the right truck is no longer an option.”

“Our customers need the right truck at the right price, but most importantly, they need it right away.”

To gain same-day delivery, Kartelo says a call needs to be made before 11am on business days.

SAFETY AWARDS

Crown Equipment is celebrating a win at the WorkCover NSW SafeWork awards, collecting the ‘Best Workplace Health and Safety Management System (Private Sector)’ gong.

The award, which WorkCover NSW says “recognises demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement of workplace health and safety outcomes through the implementation of an integrated systems approach”, was given to Crown for its new safety management system and reduction in claims over the past five years.

“Key to the new system was guiding the behaviour of workers at all levels to create a values-based learning organisation,” WorkCover NSW says.

“This involved early hazard identification, inclusion of management in all WHS matters, communicating safety information to all workers and continuous improvement and benchmarking.”

Crown Equipment’s safety, risk, environment and quality national manager Anthony Keating says it has been the employees who have “embraced our health and safety initiatives, and they are the ones who have driven down our lost time and injury rates to record lows.”

Managing director Greg Simmonds says the company has been undergoing holistic change.

“Throughout the years Crown’s staff and management have been making a concerted effort to develop and implement systems that have a tangible impact on our workplace safety performance – with results that are reflected in our culture and the bottom line,” he says.
