Next year will see a change of president and CEO at the truck maker with Per Hallberg retiring
Scandinavian manufacturer Scania AB has appointed Henrik Henriksson as its new president and CEO from next year, succeeding Per Hallberg who has held the positions since April.
Having entered the company in 1997 as a management trainee, Henriksson has since joined Scania’s executive board in 2012 and is currently the executive vice president and head of sales and marketing.
“Henrik Henriksson is a capable and experienced person, with great entrepreneurial spirit and visionary leadership,” Scania chairman Andreas Renschler says.
“He has the right profile to lead and develop the company in the long-term.”
Beginning his new role on January 1, Henriksson says it is important that Scania utilise Volkswagen Truck & Bus to “develop brand-specific customer solutions”.
“I look forward to the task of continuing to develop Scania in accordance with the goals and strategies established by the company management and the Board,” Henriksson says.
“We will continue to broaden the offering of products and services that drives profitability for our customers and us as well as our efforts to become the leader in sustainable transport.”
Outgoing CEO Hallberg is scheduled to leave the company during the course of 2016, ending an association that goes back to 1977 and a 14-year stint on the executive board.
“I would like to thank Per Hallberg for taking over the CEO position in April this year on short call, for keeping Scania on its high level of excellence and its employees being motivated during those times of changes,” Renschler says.
Henriksson will also join the Volkswagen Truck & Bus management board from January.
