Penske Power Systems extend DD15 oil drain conditions to 60,000km

Detroit DD15 engine oil conditions extended for single trailer and B-double line haul operators

Penske Power Systems has extended oil drain conditions for the Detroit DD15 engine out to 60,000km, without sampling, to customers who use approved oils.

The program, developed for single trailer and B-double line haul operators with 750 hours of operation or fuel burn of 33,000 litres or less, requires operators to use either Detroit Platinum Plus 1300 (API CJ-4 15W-40), Castrol Vecton (API CJ4 15W-40) or Mobil Delvac MX ESP (API CJ4 15W-40) oils.

The company says operators, who don’t fit into those categories or use one of the three approved oils, can have oil drain periods extended after an oil sampling evaluation.

“It all comes down to the market edge that the DD15 offers its customers by way of programs like this, which are intended to lower our customers’ operating costs,” Penske Power Systems’ director on-highway business, Kevin Dennis says.

“For the Detroit customer these improvements all equate to a lower cost of ownership and increasing road time. What’s more, the change allows for seamless alignment with truck servicing periods.”

Following the acquisition by the Penske organisation last year, MTU Detroit Diesel Australia officially became Penske Power Systems on April 1.
