New entrant Panus offers bling for its trailers

Thai manufacturer’s local subsidiary brings dealer count to three in Victoria and NSW

A new international entrant into the Australian trailer space is consolidating its presence here.

Panus Oceania, the local subsidiary of Thai semi-trailer and transport equipment maker Panus Assembly, has set up headquarters in Geelong and says it has secured dealers in Victoria and New South Wales.

Australian Machinery Wholesalers in Geelong and Intercontinental Spares in Shepparton along with K&J Trucks Coffs Harbour can offer ADR-approved flat-top semis and skels for immediate delivery.

Just a few months after its formation, Panus Oceania – led by CEO Rod Cunningham, the former senior Scania and MaxiTrans executive – is making its first marketing bid with what it describes as a “bling upgrade” for each flat-top bought before the end of February.

The package consists of alloy wheels and nut covers, stainless steel guards, stainless steel water tank, stainless steel toolbox lid, chrome side light trim, landing leg plates, chrome mudflap trim and additional rear LED lights.

“We understand that sometimes when operators are really hard at it, keeping one eye on their equipment productivity and the other eye on their business expenses, they sometimes forego those little extras that finish a new semi-trailer really nicely and provides their business with that unique customised appearance which attracts an approving nod of the head from other passing drivers.” national sales and marketing manager Joe Horvat, also formerly of MaxiTrans, says.

“We know drivers take a lot of pride in their truck and trailers and this is a very simple way in which we can add value to their equipment and they can reward themselves at no extra cost whatsoever.”

The company says it undertook a specifically Australian research, development and testing program before its tilt at this market.
