Toll Express revamps Perth Airport depot

Logistics giant focuses on safety and efficiency in $20 million airport facility update

Toll Group subsidiary Toll Express has opened the doors of its Perth Airport depot after a $20 million renovation to increase safety and efficiency at the facility.

Part of an $80 million investment in Western Australia by the logistic giant, Toll Express general manager Larry O’Regan says the depot’s upgrades focus on a new walkway and breezeway.

“A massive steel overhead walkway has been built to minimise pedestrians interacting with equipment and to make it a safer working environment,” O’Regan says.

“The impressive 172 metre structure spans the width of the breezeway and connects the main office with our training room.

“In addition, the breezeway has doubled in length to 287 metres to allow for 20 vehicles at a time to deliver freight, significantly reducing the time our customers and suppliers have to wait.”

Built by the Georgiou Group and managed by APP Corporation, the revamped facility follows the opening of Toll Group’s $20 million intermodal freight park at the Port of Fremantle.

The 4.3 hectare block, announced in August, offers 6,000 square metres of warehouse and cross-dock space, a weighbridge, a container park, and quarantine and fumigation services.
