Swift to take prime space at Enfield

First major tenant will lease 20,000 square metres at the intermodal facility

NSW Ports has announced the first major permanent tenant for its intermodal logistics facility at Enfield.

Swift Transport will take on a significant section of the development, and has committed to moving in when construction is completed – estimated to be in nine months’ time.

It will lease over 20,000 square metres of purpose-built office, warehouse and hard stand space.

A spokesperson for NSW Ports says the Enfield facility will be smaller than the planned intermodal development at Moorebank, but will have the same goal of increasing the number of containers moving out of the Port of Botany via rail.

It will have a modest goal of transiting 300,000 twenty-foot equivalent units per year.

NSW Ports CEO Stephen Cleary says it will still play an “integral” role in Sydney’s metropolitan logistics network, with close access to the Hume Highway, the M5, and the M4.

The terminal will also feature two 920m rail sidings, storage areas for empty containers, and a range of industrial lots for logistics, freight forwarding, import-export, transport, distribution and warehousing operators.

“We are delighted that Swift has signed on at Enfield and look forward to working with them to grow the container business through the intermodal logistics centre,” Cleary says.

Swift Transport is one of the top five wharf cartage service providers operating from the Port of Botany, having grown considerably in the last few years.
