Feds give $9.56 million for WA bridge fix

The federal government announces bridge maintenance help for local governments in WA

Infrastructure minister Warren Truss has allocated part of Western Australia’s Roads to Recovery funding specifically to local governments to upgrade bridges in their communities.

He says local governments in WA have particularly large areas to administer, so it was important to provide extra help for vital land transport links.

“Our funding helps to upgrade, repair, or replace local bridges that are in poor condition and have been identified as a high priority,” Truss says.

“Work will start this year, with $9.56 million to be provided to 25 bridges over three years.”

Local governments receiving the funding include the City of Karratha (three bridges); the Shire of Denmark (two), and Donnybrook-Balingup Shire (two).
