A truck driver in western Sydney has been handed $5000 after his former boss failed to pay termination entitlements.
The Fair Work Ombudsman made the recovery as part of its random blitz of companies in the region.
A forklift driver received $7400 after inspectors discovered he had been underpaid the minimum hourly rate, overtime and long service leave entitlements.
“These Western Sydney businesses have now corrected the errors that led to the underpayments and put processes in place to ensure they will not happen again,” Fair Work Ombudsman Nicholas Wilson says.
The Fair Work Ombudsman’s campaign netted a total of $210,000 in back-pay for workers.
The largest recovery was $27,000 for a fruit packer in the Blacktown area. Inspectors also secured back-pay for receptionists, a storeman and a manager.
