Police are warning of significant delays on the Pacific Highway after a collision between a truck and car north of Newcastle in NSW.
A semi-trailer laden with six cars collided in the northbound lanes of the highway about 10:30am today near Port Stephens at Twelve Mile Creek.
A statement from police says both vehicles then went over the median strip before the truck rolled, spilling the load of cars across the southbound lanes.
No one was injured in the incident.
“Heavy-lifting equipment and tow trucks have been brought in to clear the scene; however, that’s expected to take several hours,” a police statement says. “Northbound lanes remain open, while southbound lanes are closed with traffic being diverted along a parallel service road.”
Inquiries into what caused the incident are still continuing, as southbound motorists are urged to delay their trip.
