The M7 motorway in Sydney has been partially shut down following a fatality in Quakers Hill this morning involving a truck and car.

The heavy vehicle collided with the car while it was parked in the breakdown lane near the Quakers Hill Parkway off-ramp just after 9am.

The driver of the car was killed and the truck driver was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Southbound lanes on the M7 remain closed as police conduct investigations.

The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) has advised motorists to get off the M7 at Sunnyholt Road, but a spokesman does not know when the road will be re-opened.

He says the truck is on its side with a car appearing to be “caught underneath”.

Meanwhile, the Great Western Highway is closed between Bathurst and Lithgow after a crash involving a van about 10am today.
