Diesel prices increased slightly by an average of 0.7 cents per litre for the week ending February 28.

Terminal gate pricing data from the Australian Institute of Petroleum shows prices in all states apart from Darwin hovering around the 114 to 116 cents per litre mark throughout the week.

Diesel in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney remained the cheapest in the country, with 114.5, 114.9 and 115.2 cents per litre respectively.

Adelaide’s average price was for the first time in many months the same as Sydney’s at 115.2.

Diesel in Darwin was again the most expensive at 119.3 cents per litre - 3.2 cents higher than Perth where diesel was fetching 116.1 cents per litre throughout the week.

AIP data is based on information provided by BP Australia, Caltex, Shell Australia and ExxonMobil, averaged across terminals and capital cities.
