A cyclist has been killed after he collided with a truck east of Brisbane yesterday afternoon.

The 37-year-old man ran into the side of the vehicle about 5pm as the truck was turning and was caught underneath the rig.

He was dragged for 30 metres before the truck driver was able to stop the vehicles.

Emergency crews arrived but the cyclist died at the scene.

The road where the incident occurred had to be closed as investigations took place, causing extensive traffic delays and congestion in peak-hour traffic.

Investigations are still being carried out and police have not confirmed what kind of truck was being driven.

A tragic accident and personal tragedy for the cyclist, the driver, the copmpany and all the associated families involved. We all have to do a better job of looking out for and after one another.

This article is incredibly biased in its choice of language, particularly with regard to who it alleges hit who.
This bias is what contributes to people blaming the (often, but admittedly not always, innocent) cyclist, which perpetuates futher negative stereotyping.
In and of itself, this would not be all that bad, EXCEPT THAT IT LEADS TO MORE PEOPLE BEING KILLED UNNECESSARILY.
