Tasmanian Premier David Bartlett has pledged $90 million to improve regional roads should he be re-elected on March 20.
The Community Roads Package will improve 16 regional roads and provide a major boost to Tasmania’s core industries, Bartlett says.
“Good community roads infrastructure will support our tourism industry, our agricultural industry, our mining industry, our forestry industry and our fishing industry,” he says.
The scheme, if carried out on the back of a Labor win, will take six years and include upgrades to various parts of the Arthur, West Tamar and Tasman highways.
The Liberals pledged a 4-lane Midland Highway upgrade if elected.
