Trucking operators will be given access to the key decision makers in NSW as part of this year’s Regional Trucking Forum.

The event run by industry group NatRoad will be held on February 6 in Dubbo and will be headlined by the Minister Assisting the Minister for Transport David Borger. Issues to be discussed include higher productivity vehicles, road trains and higher mass limits.

Borger, who recently launched a review into chain of responsibility laws, will be joined by NSW Opposition leader Barry O’Farrell and Independent MP Dawn Fardell.

“As Australia’s largest member-driven trucking organisation—NatRoad Inc[orporating the] Australian Road Train Association—we are delighted that some of the most important decision-makers for our industry recognise the importance of engaging directly with the grassroots of the industry through their attendance,” NatRoad Deputy CEO Duncan Bremner says.

“This forum – along with our annual conference – provide not just a chance for the politicians and regulators to address the industry, but allow the industry to provide feedback from the road and play a direct role in influencing the future policy directions of their industry.”

Regulators from the National Transport Commission (NTC) and the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) will also be speaking at the event alongside Dubbo Mayor and Chair of the NSW Roads and Transport Advisory Coucil Allan Smith.

Well-known road safety advocate and Dubbo native Rod Hannifey will also speak during the forum.

The one-day event will also look at the future of BAB Quads and ABB Quads in NSW and the progress of national heavy vehicle regulations.
