By Brad Gardner | December 23, 2009A man has been charged with negligent driving after a collision earlier this month in NSW killed five people and left a truck driver in shock.
In a statement, NSW Police says a 67-year-old Picton man was charged after attending Camden Police Station yesterday and will appear in court on January 27 next year.
A police spokeswoman declined to detail the allegations, saying to do so might prejudice the case.
“That allegation will be made in court,” the spokeswoman says.
A 40-year-old man, two females in their 40s, a 23-year-old woman and a three-month-old child died when the car they were in collided with a semi-trailer about 8.15am on December 6 on Picton Road at Wilton.
The 56-year-old truck driver was taken to Campbelltown Hospital to be treated, while Picton Road was closed until 10pm that night.
The NSW road toll is currently 452 – 82 more deaths than this time last year.
