Sydney container haulage firm Paradigm Engineering is planning to contest fines imposed on its trucks at Port Botany.
Paradigm partner Warren Symonds, who is also linked to Alltrans Logistics, believes the former Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA), now Roads and Maritime Services (RMS), went beyond its remit in fining his trucks as they left the CTAL gates to travel a short distance so their cargo could be broken down to legal volumes.

The M5 motorway in Sydney will be expanded under a project designed to cater for growing traffic levels.
The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) signed an agreement with Interlink Roads, which will be responsible for the M5 corridor expansion.
An RTA spokesperson says a proposal will be developed to widen the M5 south west motorway between Camden Valley Way and King Georges Road.
The expansion will involve widening the road from two to three lanes in each direction and is described by the RTA as an important infrastructure upgrade.
“This is a significant milestone for the entire M5 corridor expansion proposal,” the spokesperson says.
“Sydney is continuing to change and grow and we need to make sure New South Wales infrastructure is able to cope with future transport demand.”
According to the RTA, 95,000 vehicles use this corridor each day.
