Work will soon begin to make it easier for trucks to use a popular roadhouse in northern New South Wales.

The Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) has committed part of an $8.5 million budget to the Clybucca Roadhouse north of Kempsey and the nearby Goulds Lane this financial year.

An RTA spokesperson says the project will improve turning areas for heavy vehicles and make it easier for them to re-enter the Pacific Highway.

The works are part of an investment in three projects on the highway designed to improve safety.

This includes altering a bend at the Broadwater Tip south of Broadwater and rebuilding 850 metres of highway at Shark Creek to widen the road and shoulders.

“These locations, on the existing two-lane highway, have been identified as having poor crash histories and poor alignment,” the spokesperson says.

The $8.5 million spend comes from a $3.6 billion joint government investment over five years on the Pacific Highway.

Work on Broadwater Tip is expected to begin later this month.

“In the five year period a range of minor projects will be built to improve sections of existing two-lane highway and intersections with poor crash history,” the spokesperson says.

Are they (the RTA) going to improve the work area size to accomodate the amount of traffic, in other words increase the parking area, or just re align the entry and exit to prevent the possibility of accidents.
