A truck driver is in hospital in a stable condition after coming into contact with a suspected chemical leak at the Port of Brisbane this morning.
The driver called emergency services at 5.45am after Queensland Fire and Rescue Service fire fighters were called to the port half an hour earlier to deal with the leak reported to be coming from a container at one of the terminals.
Two fire crews and several specialist crews including the QFRS scientific unit could not find any evidence of a leak and concluded the area was safe shortly after arriving at the scene.
A spokeswoman for the port confirmed the incident had been attended to and that it was business as usual at the facility throughout the day.
“The only the thing I know is that it was all resolved and cleared out earlier this morning,” she says.
The truck driver is currently being treated at the Princess Alexander Hospital in South Brisbane.
