Visy Industries joins ATA technical council

Visy will have input on safety and viability recommendations

The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has enlisted Visy Industries Australia as a new member of its Industry Technical Council (ITC).

The ITC provides technical input and best practice advice to the ATA on enhancing trucking’s safety and viability.

In welcoming the move, ATA chief engineer Bob Woodward says: “Visy’s contribution to the ITC will provide benefits to both the industry and stakeholders by raising technology and maintenance standards and improving the operational safety of the heavy vehicle industry.”

Visy will be represented on the council by national safe transport manager Jodie Broadbent, who will assist in the development and recommendation of Technical Advisory Procedures and safety alerts, as well as the development of the ATA Technology and Maintenance Conference program.

“Prior to her role with Visy, Jodie has been a member of the ITC for many years, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience,” Woodward says.

ATA recently announced Mainfreight as a corporate member

Visy Logistics executive general manager Sean Richards says the firm is committed to the safe movement of freight on Australian roads.

“Being a member of the Industry Technical Council allows us to develop best practice solutions for our business while connecting with the most knowledgeable people in the road freight industry,” he says.

Woodward adds the ITC is an opportunity to share industry knowledge and gain technical information from like-minded individuals.

“The council is always open to new members. I would encourage anyone with an interest to consider joining and become a part of our industry’s voice into the future.”
