Centurion hails Upstream Solutions launch, Regal acquisition

Advances in general freight and energy as WA firm sees resource sector uptick

As the ink dries on its acquisition of Regal General Freight from K&S Corporation, Centurion Transport has also marked the launch of its new entity servicing the oil and gas industries.

Centurion Upstream Solutions is an end-to-end supply chain solution “for large oil and gas companies so that they can be confident their import through to onshore and offshore supply chain task is project managed to maximise safety and efficiency while ensuring their equipment arrives at its destination ready to use when required”.

It is supported by Centurion’s fleet of 1,500 prime movers and trailers and 14 nation-wide warehouses, comprising strategic alliances with:

  • Marine service providers to provide access to a versatile fleet of vessels that cater to all clients’ operational requirements, bridging the gap between warehouse and platform logistics
  • Preservation and testing service providers (exclusive arrangement) to seamlessly manage clients’ asset inventory, prolonging equipment life and ensuring the equipment is always ready for operation.

“Centurion Upstream Solutions understands our clients’ needs, and we have considerable experience in operating in remote locations, so we can safely and efficiently manage and deliver integrated logistics services for complex projects in the oil and gas sector,” Centurion Upstream Solutions CEO Max Bergomi says.

“Using Centurion Upstream Solutions allows oil and gas companies to do what they do best – find, develop, produce and process oil and gas.

“They can do this with the confidence that their supply chain is being managed by oil and gas experts, with the experience and the infrastructure to ensure they have the right equipment at the right time.”

On Regal General Freight, Centurion CEO Justin Cardaci says the acquisition will enable Centurion to remain cost competitive through better asset utilisation.

To service Regal’s customers, he notes Centurion is expanding its current fleet of trucks, trailers and refrigerated vans.

Centurion also plans to continue to operate Regal’s regular services to Broome, Derby, Karratha, Newman and Port Hedland.

“As economic conditions in the WA resource sector improve, there is an increasing amount of project activity, and these additional resources will position us well to capitalise on this upturn,” Cardaci says.

“Centurion’s business is focused on Australia’s resource-rich areas, so we possess comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Regal’s Pilbara and Kimberley-focussed business, customers and routes.

“That knowledge and understanding of logistics challenges and opportunities in north-west WA is why the ability to purchase the Regal business appealed to Centurion.

“The additional scale will ensure Centurion can continue to be a strong service provider to the regional communities in which it operates, and can preserve the jobs of many Regal employees in a very competitive logistics market.

“The addition of Regal’s business ensures Centurion remains cost competitive while providing Regal’s customers with the industry-leading safety standards and customer focussed IT logistics that Centurion has built its reputation on.

“We are focused on seamlessly integrating the Regal business and staff into our company, with a particular focus on making sure that there is no impact on existing clients’ freight requirements.

“With the increased scale and efficiency the Regal acquisition will provide, Centurion is confident that it will meet and exceed client expectations.”
