NHVR unveils road manager performance portal

Digital access to improve permit data transparency for operators and road managers

A new interactive platform from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has been designed to allow operators and road managers greater access to the latest data for heavy vehicle permits.

The portals comprise:

• Road Manager Consent Performance – including the number of heavy vehicle consents and average number of days to respond. These figures are based on consent requests received and processed by the NHVR

• Road Manager Overdue Consent Performance – including the number of heavy vehicle consent requests for road managers that were overdue at the end of each quarter.

NHVR has long scrutinised the timeframes for processing heavy vehicle permits. Read more, here

NHVR network access manager Roger Garcia says the two-year transition to a digital access system has allowed a greater level of transparency for operators and road managers.

“In particular, the NHVR’s updated heat maps provide an overview of the number of heavy vehicle access consent requests that road managers receive and the average time it takes to respond to applications,” Garcia says.

The NHVR says it works with more than 400 road managers, utility providers and rail authorities to coordinate heavy vehicle access to state and local roads.

Work is ongoing with state and local road authorities to improve processing times and reduce the number of permits required by operators, it adds.
