ATA General Council election results out

Miners and Beer to hold their new roles for two years

Current president of the Livestock, Bulk and Rural Carriers Association (LBRCA) Lynley Miners has been elected the small fleet operator representative in Australian Trucking Association (ATA’s) 2017 General Council elections.

Miners will assume the new role during ATA’s annual general meeting on April 5, along with current Livestock and Rural Transporters Association (LRTAV) vice president John Beer, who has been elected as the new owner-driver representative.

ATA chair Noelene Watson welcomed the new members and thanked outgoing representatives Frank Black and Leigh Smart for their contribution.

“Frank Black has a long record of service to the industry and the ATA, having served as the owner driver representative from 2003 to 2009, and again from 2011 to 2017,” Watson says.

“Leigh Smart also has an active record of service to the industry, and has served as the small fleet operator representative from 2015 to 2017.

“Leigh Smart’s company, Formula Chemicals, was a finalist in this week’s prestigious Australian Road Safety Awards for raising road safety awareness with school children and the wider community.

“I thank Frank, Leigh, and Gordon Mackinlay for putting their hands up in this election, and their willingness to support and contribute to the industry.”

Both Miners and Beer will hold their new roles for two years.
