NatRoad appoints Warwick Ragg as new CEO

New NatRoad CEO previously worked for Australian Forest Growers and the Farmers Association.

NatRoad has appointed a new CEO to replace incumbent Chris Melham, who is leaving to join the Australian Trucking Association (ATA).

NatRoad president Geoff Crouch has announced Warwick Ragg will take up the role on February 9 and undergo a two-week transition with Melham.

Ragg has more than 20 years experience working in member-based industry associations, including 11 years as Australian Forest Growers CEO and holding a senior position at the New South Wales Farmers Association before that.

“The appointment of Warwick was the culmination of an extensive selection process which attracted over 50 candidates nationwide and I am thrilled to have secured his services as our incoming CEO,” Crouch says.

NatRoad believes Ragg’s grassroots experience will help him in his dealings with the group’s members.

The National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) has welcomed Ragg’s appointment.

“The NHVR looks forward to working with Warwick and NatRoad in continuing to develop solutions to industry issues and concerns through our key industry advisory forums, like the NHVR Industry Operations Group,” NHVR CEO Sal Petroccitto says.

“I’d also like to personally thank current Natroad CEO Chris Melham, who has worked closely with the NHVR for the last three years and supported the Regulator during the challenging times following the commencement of the Heavy Vehicle National Law last year.”

The ATA in November last year announced Melham would replace Stuart St Clair as ATA CEO.

St Clair will step down at the 2015 Trucking Australia conference in March.
