Australian team takes out second place in Isuzu technician competition for the second year running.
A team of Australian Isuzu truck dealer technicians have taken out second place in the 2014 Isuzu World Technical Competition held in Tokyo.
The competition is in its ninth year, and gathers teams of Isuzu truck technicians from around the world to compete in a series of challenges that evaluate their technical skill and knowledge.
Some of the challenges involve measurement accuracy, fault identification, repair ability and theoretical understanding. The competition was also split into two categories depending on the emission standards of the participating country. Countries with Euro IV emission standards and above were split off from those below Euro IV.
The Australian team competed against 11 other nations in the Euro IV and above category, and came second to the team from the United Kingdom. This is the second year in a row that the Australian team has placed second.
Charlie Gracewood from the Isuzu Australia service team took over coaching duties this year.
“These boys are some of the best operators in the truck service industry and I know Charlie put them both through a fair bit of training in the lead up” IAL training manager David Smith says.
Some of the technicians in the Australian team include Jazzmer Ducao from Brisbane and Martin Lawson from Dubbo.
“I think it gives our customers excellent peace of mind knowing the level of skill our technicians possess, and that their purchase is being extremely well looked after when they come in for a service,” Smith adds.
